Guidelines for Taking the Perfect Pet Photo for Your Custom Portrait

To produce a high-quality pet portrait, it's essential to upload a quality photo that meets our guidelines.

Let's review the following tips and guidelines to make sure yours is just right:

  • Choose a setting with good lighting. Use a photo that is taken in daylight or a brightly lit indoor area.
  • Use a smartphone or a high-quality camera
  • Ensure the whole face & neck is visible and not in shadows.
  • Your pet should be facing forward and looking directly at the camera at eye level. Other positions may be acceptable, but please note that your pet will be depicted in that position in the final portrait.

EXAMPLES:

Very Good Photo - The pet is at eye level and the face & neck are showing. The lighting good.

Poor Photo - The pet is not facing the camera, and the face is not at eye level. The head and neck are not completely visible.

Poor Photo - The lighting is not good and has heavy shadows. Also, the pet is not facing the camera, and the face is not at eye level. The head and neck are not completely visible.
